Cape Buffalos are extremely social and live in large mixed herds, of up to 2000 members. If a herd comes under threat from predators they form a circle around their young to protect them. All adults face outwards in an effort to the hide the vulnerable young.
The Cape Buffalo is one of the iconic Big 5 to see in Africa. HA
They have a symbiotic relationship with many African birds such as the oxpecker. They are often found eating insects on the buffalo and will also warn the buffalo of any approaching dangers.
