IUCN STATUS: Vulnerable
Cercopithecus diana
Found in west Africa on the Ivory Coast, Liberia and Sierra Leone in rainforests and semi-deciduous forests, Diana monkeys are one of the most threatened and least known African monkeys. They have a slender body with long legs and tails and live in the high canopy of forests. They forage for fruit, leaves and insects and live in groups of up to 50 individuals. Diana monkeys are so good at alerting each other to danger, that other primates species have been known to live with them in order to benefit from this behaviour.
