Full time – Seasonal position available
The Horticulture Department at Howletts Wild Animal Park have a vacancy for a Gardener to join the team on a Seasonal basis, through to the 30 September 2023. Working within a small team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, upkeep and improvement of our grounds at Howletts. Duties will mainly include looking after lawns and grassed areas, the herbaceous and mixed plantings, wall shrubs, lawns, houseplant displays and seasonal displays ensuring they meet the organisations priorities.
Who we are looking for:
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a gardener. Qualifications are an advantage but not essential for this role as experience of similar work will also be considered. You must have good general horticultural knowledge and have a good level of physical fitness as these roles will involve heavy lifting. We are looking for someone who is motivated, enthusiastic, flexible, and happy to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Contract details:
Rate of pay is £10.18 per hour for under 21-year-olds, and £10.42 per annum for over 21-year-olds.
This seasonal position runs through to the 30th of September 2023. The role is 40 hours per week, worked 5 days out of seven. Working hours are 8:00– 4:30pm which can include weekends and bank holidays.

Howletts Wild Animal Park is located near Canterbury and set within 90 acres of land to explore. Howletts is home to over 300 rare and endangered species, including Kents only giant anteaters, the largest herd of African elephants in the UK, and more gorillas, leopards, and monkeys than any zoo in the county!
