IUCN Status: Least concern
You can see the only honey badgers in the UK at Howletts in their home near to the Pavilion Restaurant. Visitor favourite Tyson and female Bee Bee have successfully given birth to a youngster, Tembe, although mum kept him hidden in the den for so long, he now resembles an adult!
Honey badgers are incredible animals, they are powerful, fearless and highly intelligent. We’re proud to have them at Howletts and interestingly the first ever captive birth of this species, happened right here in the park!
You can adopt Tyson or help us continue to keep him and his family occupied with gifts from our Amazon Wish List.

Honey badgers are also known as Ratel, they thrive across most of Africa and parts of Asia. Their skin is thick and tough and is almost impossible to pierce. It is also loose, so that if they are pinned down by a predator, they can twist round and protect themselves.
Honey badgers are so tough that they can survive venomous snake bites that would kill a human!
