Spring 2018 Applicant
We have an exciting placement available on our Animal sections for an enthusiastic individual wanting to gain valuable zoo animal keeping experience, through working alongside keepers who will provide coaching and mentoring throughout the internship.
We are looking for candidates who have a background in Animal husbandry and studied a relevant course. A commitment of a 4-12 months would be required. The hours would be from 8am to 5pm, 3-5 days per week which may include weekends.
These placements are physically demanding positions, so candidates must be physically fit, self-motivated and have a genuine interest in conservation and animal keeping experience.
Howletts Wild Animal Park and Port Lympne Reserve work in conjunction with The Aspinall Foundation; a charity committed to conservation and the reintroduction of captive bred species back into their natural habitats.
As we are a Registered Charity, funded entirely by visitor fees and donations, we regret we are unable to offer any wages or salary for the placement. No other financial benefits are offered. Please be aware that unfortunately we are unable to offer accommodation. However, we do offer comprehensive practical training which provides significant insight into the functioning of a successful and responsible zoological collection, the aim being to promote your future employability.
