They say an elephant never forgets, we say you’ll never forget the African elephants at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park in Kent. Open your eyes and take in the size of our African elephants, coming face to face with these intelligent and majestic creatures is truly a breathtaking experience.
The elephant is the largest land mammal in the world, but sadly the magnificent tusks for which the African elephant is renowned are also one of the main reasons that they are under threat; these ivory tusks make them a lucrative target for hunters.
Living freely on the vast open escarpment that runs alongside the Kentish coast, the African elephants at Port Lympne are not to be missed. With their slow, ambling gait these gentle giants are easy to spot as you make your way through the park.
