Port Lympne Wild Animal Park, nestled in the Kent countryside, offers exciting days out in Kent filled with discovery for the entire family. Set in 600 acres, Port Lympne Wild Animal Park offers a treat for everyone.
Along with our Siberian and Indian tigers, Barbary lions, small cats, monkeys and many other rare and endangered species, Port Lympne Wild Animal Park is home to the largest breeding herd of black rhinos outside of Africa. We're also home to the largest gorillarium in the world, "The Palace of the Apes", home to a family group of Gorillas fed at 12 noon and 3:00pm daily offering an un-paralleled view of this mightiest of apes.
At Port Lympne Wild Animal Park we can now offer the ultimate African Experience. With the African Experience taking visitors across our open plains with giraffe, black rhino, wildebeest, zebra, ostrich, antelope and other wildlife roaming free, visitors could almost be on the grasslands of Africa. For the complete experience you can even stay overnight at our new Livingstone Safari Lodge and get the authentic African safari park adventure.
As parts of Port Lympne are quite steep, we offer reduced admission for disabled visitors and senior citizens and have selected routes for wheelchairs and pushchairs. Please ask for advice or you may wish to visit our sister park, Howletts Wild Animal Park, Nr Canterbury. Wheelchairs are available for hire - please ring in advance to reserve.
Both Port Lympne and Howletts Wild Animal parks were set up by the late John Aspinall. John Aspinall purchased Port Lympne back in 1957, with Howletts being bought in 1973 not only to house the growing collection of animals but to protect and breed rare and endangered species and, where possible, return them to safe areas in the wild. The charity that works in conjunction with Port Lympne and Howletts Wild Animal Parks, the Aspinall Foundation also manages two gorilla rescue and rehabilitation projects in the central African countries of Gabon and Congo where we have been able to successfully reintroduce over 50 gorillas to the wild. In visiting Port Lympne and Howletts Wild Animal Parks and if you adopt an animal, you're helping us protect these animals for the future.
