Visions of Life - Photography Competition
Visitors to Howletts Wild Animal Park, near Canterbury, can enter a photography competition as part of the parks monthly theme for July – Visions of Life.
The competition will run throughout July and there are three categories, Under 18’s, Most Comical and Wild Personalities.
Neil Spooner, Animal Director said: ‘This competition is a great opportunity for our visitors to enter their best pictures taken at Howletts and win exciting prizes, there will also be a runner up prize in each category.’
Prizes will vary depending on category entered, first prize in the Under 18’s category will be a digital photo frame, the Most Comical picture will win a coveted 30 minute animal encounter and the winner of the Wild Personalities category will win a photo day at Howletts with resident photographer, Dave Rolfe. The runners up in each section will receive a photography book by the famous wild life photographer, Steve Bloom.
To be in with a chance of winning one of these prizes, entrants should email their pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org with their name, age and telephone number, stating which category they are entering. Winners will be announced in September 2013 on the park’s Facebook page.
In a further development the Education Team at Howletts have announced that a caption competition will run alongside the photography competition, where entrants will have the opportunity to caption photographs taken by the dedicated team of keepers at the wild animal park.
Photographs taken by the keepers will be displayed in the Education Centre at Howletts, located near to the Walking With Lemurs enclosure. To take part, entrants should fill out the competition form with their caption and contact details.
Winners will be chosen at random and there will be one winning caption for each picture, these will then be posted on the park’s Facebook page and the picture caption with the most likes will be crowned overall winner. The winner will see the picture and their corresponding caption printed on postcards to be sold in the gift shop.
Neil commented: ‘As the monthly theme at Howletts is Visions of Life, we felt that both these competitions would work really nicely. We have some of the most rare and endangered species in the world, our glass fronted enclosures and open topped enclosures provide perfect opportunities to take great pictures.’
