Female gorilla with offspringFREE TO LIVE AS THEY WERE MEANT TO...

At The Aspinall Foundation, we're proud to have made John Aspinall's dream of protecting and breeding wild animals and finally returning them to safe areas in their original homeland a reality.

To further advance our mission, we founded The Aspinall Foundation USA, a non-profit corporation, organized under the laws of the State of California.

Together we're dedicated to preventing the extinction of rare and endangered animals throughout the world. This includes successful breeding in wildlife parks, with the intention of returning these animals back to protected areas in the wild. To date the charity has returned black rhino, western lowland gorilla and przewalski horses back into the wild. The work also includes the management of two gorilla rescue and rehabilitation projects in Congo and Gabon, Africa, where we have over fifty western lowland gorillas in our care, most of whom have been rescued from the bush meat trade. We have celebrated 19 births since 2004 - real hopes for the future of this species. The charity also manage projects in Java and Madagascar, as well as contribute to animal protection schemes in India and Cambodia.
