Grumeti, Zawadi and Monduli are doing very well indeed. They have gone from their second reintroduction area into their third (and final) reintroduction area. Tony took them through with Berry White. The gate was opened and they followed the car and the carrots and lucerne down the wide track that takes them straight to their new feed area. They are now settling down.
This reintroduction area is a much larger place, loads of browse, nice eating venue. They are all content in each other's company, switching from being altogether, to Monduli being with Grumeti, then Monduli with Zawadi and then Grumeti with Zawadi.
We are upgrading all the water systems and upgrading security, with four new security outposts going up. The water systems are now in place, with huge storage tanks at each water pan. One of our females (Charlie) in the main sanctuary has recently had a calf (roughly the same day as your new calf at Port Lympne) so we are doing our best to keep a very close eye on her. Tanzanian National Parks (TANAPA) are working closely with us on this and we have the TANAPA vet with us at the moment.
So all in all, a great few weeks.
