Louna

Location:
Port Lympne
Gender:
Male
Date Of Birth:
24/10/2008

Louna the Western Lowland Gorilla was born on 24th October 2008 to Mum Foufou and Dad Djala.

At 10 months old he was removed from the group for a week as he was not gaining weight and it was found that he was not feeding properly.  He was given intensive care and medication and was successfully introduced back to his group.

He is very friendly and very protected by his Mother Foufou, whenever she moves she picks him up.  Louna will play with the other youngsters, 2 year old Mayumba and 4 year old Djongo.  He also has a Sister who is 4 years old called Mbwambe.

Louna wasn’t feeding properly due to illness so was removed due to weight loss, dehydration and to treat the illness. Since then he’s come on in leaps and bounds and is getting much more independent and will often go off playing and foraging away from his mother FouFou (but will always go to her if in trouble) and his character is really coming through.
