Marta
Marta was formerly housed at Howletts Wild Animal Park where she was paired with one of the most popular (maybe also the most grumpy) animals; Cakya Muni. After his death in 2008, it was decided that the best option would be to transfer her to one of the available enclosures here at Port Lympne so that Howletts would have the space available to get a new breeding pair.
Marta is now located near Base camp and can often be seen climbing across the structure of her new enclosure, giving visitors to the park a rare opportunity to see this rare feline up close.
She has settled in well in her new enclosure even though she is somewhat grumpy – a trait which makes her all the more endearing to her keepers! She ventures out quite often now but can often be heard grumbling around her new stomping ground. We hope to improve her enclosure in the near future so watch this space.....
